Poetry in Room 26

Room 26 wrote some Awesome Sense Poems on Popcorn and Fruits in Week 11.  We used our five Sense Senses when writing the poems.

Sense Poem on Apples by Sani
Apple like a read and green round moon.
Apples feel like a hard rock.
Apple sounds like a chewing gum in my mouth.
Apples smell like juice.
Apples taste sweet and divine, but it is very crunchy.


Sense Poem on Popcorn by Alexis
Popcorn
Popcorn looks like little, yellow ducks.
Popcorn feels squishy.
Popcorn sounds crunchy in my mouth.
It smells like buttery mustard.
It tastes sugary with icing sugar.

Week 11

Wow! it's Week 11 of Term 1 and we've had a superb term learning lots of new and exciting things.  This week in writing, we are writing some great Sense Poems.  We have been learning how to find a fraction of a set, order fractions and solve fractional word problems in Maths.  In Reading, we are learning to synthesise ideas in a story.  We are using what we already know, what we have learned and making new ideas. 

In ICT, we used Pages to create our Learning Goals Poster.

Room 26 created some fantastic Kiwiana icons in the Art Room using pastels.  Have a look:)

Updates

Room 26 have been writing some fantastic Information Reports about New Zealand. We wrote some biographies on some famous New Zealanders. We have been looking at what life was like in the 1950's in New Zealand and comparing it to life with now during Inquiry Learning.

Race Relations Day

Today was Race Relations Day where we celebrated the value of cultural diversity.  The 2013 theme is “My Dream for Aotearoa New Zealand..”

Our School Assembly

On Monday 11th March, Room 26 led the School Assembly.  We presented a keynote on the Census and grooved to the awesome song "Give it Up".    We hope you all enjoyed our assembly.  Check out our photos.
