Term 3

We can't believe how fast our year is going but we're in for another good term!

Our term value is Determination and we are all determined to work hard and make the most of our last half year in primary school.

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
— Thomas A. Edison

We're all excited because this term the year 6s will be putting on our final camp fundraiser - Camp Stalls! Room 26 were 2nd to host the event this term and had a whole lot of fun putting it on for the whole school. We thank the whole of PCS for supporting us.

2015 PCS Cross Country

In Week 3 this term, we had the annual gruelling PCS Cross Country. Many students in our class made the school team and have been training hard since - for the inter-school Cross Country Zones held later in the term in Week 9. Good luck to all our competitors!

Enjoy a compilation of photos taken during the muddiest part of the run. 2015 PCS Cross Country on PhotoPeach

Y6 Speech Competition.

The annual speech competition between the Year 5s and 6s took place last week in Week 7. Nathanael from Room 26 did very well in getting into the finals up to this point. Here he is delivering an informative and animated speech on genetic engineering. Although he did not gain a placing in the Senior competition, he did us proud. Congratulations to the finalists Amber (Y6), Ronit (Y6) and Manav (Y5).

Term 2

In Term Two, Week 3 we had our whole class school assembly. Our theme was about being thankful. Lanijane, Raeolyn and Nathaneal sang as soloists singing a "Thank you" Filipino song. It was hard enough to learn the song in another language and to sing it in front of the whole school but we made it through our nervousness.

Our Term 2 Value was Honesty. Honesty is when you tell the truth and act truthfully. Here are 3 quotes on Honesty :

  1. Being Honest never hurts anyone , being a liar only hurts you.
  2. Honesty is an expensive gift , don't expect it from cheap people.
  3. Being honest in your heart feels better than Ice-Cream !!!
Remember being truthful isn't about making other people happy it's about knowing that in the inside you're happy and that you make others happy too!

At the end of term 1 we said farewell to one of our favourite learning assistants, Mrs Hart. We miss her dearly and wish her well in her new role.

When Whaea Paea visited our class for Te Reo we felt so jubilant that we got to test the weather by making kites! Everyone had done such an amazing job to decorate them! Here are some of our excellent art forms.

At the beginning of the term, we had another exciting camp fundraiser with Sports Fun Day! We'd like to say a big thank you to Rm 25 for organising this and to everyone who took part on this amazing day! We know we had a blast!

Half way through the term, we were fortunate to have a lovely student teacher in our class, Mrs Aaliyah. She was kind and friendly and taught us a lot of new things. We enjoyed having her in our class and wish her well in the future with teaching.

Here she is taking us through a few exercises in drama lesson.

In the last week of Term 2, we had PCS' annual Science Wackiest Invention Competition. Many from Room 26 entered and did very well. Watch one of our favourite entries from our very own Vandan. Well done to all entries, you wacky inventors!!

PCS Sewing Club

This year there was an opportunity for sewing. I decided to join it. It was my first time I had a lot of fun it seems easy but it is HARD. Well anyway I got to make a pincushion and a placemat. For Mothers Day and Fathers Day we will make something else. We don't know yet but l'm looking forward to it.

Pasifika Showcase 2015

It has been a lot of hard work and many many hours learning and practising our songs and dance for this year's Pasifika Showcase. The year 6s have been focussing on the beautiful island of Samoa. We have enjoyed learning about their culture and celebrated this last Friday with singing Samoa's national anthem and an upbeat song called Pe a e siva. We wowed the crowd with an amazing dance called La'u Samoa - My Samoa, taught by two awesome ladies from our community, Delsa and Pravina. Our awesome costumes were made by a fabulous mum of our school. Everyone did a fantastic job on the day and had lots of fun...now we can relax!

Term One Swimming 2015

This term, we have been very fortunate to take part in swimming lessons at Papatoetoe Pools, coached by qualified swimming coaches. For the last 5 weeks, we have learnt many swimming skills, gained a lot of confidence in the water and most of all have had lots of fun!

Year 6 CHORES Fundraiser

As part of our Y6 Camp fundraising, our Y6 students have been very busy this term doing chores (over and above the normal) at home to raise as much pocket money as they can. Many students have done a fabulous job while all their efforts have contributed greatly to their camp kitty.

The five students that have raised the most in the year group are pictured below and from Rm 26 (2nd from the right), we have our fantastic, hardworking and enthusiastic, Anna Tran!

Congratulations and well done to all - you have done Year 6 students and teachers, proud.

Welcome to Room 26 in 2015

Welcome to room 26:
In room 26 we have 26 students and a wonderful teacher called Mrs Sila. In our class there is a friendly new student from Fiji called Rhea and she is really kind and helpful.

This term value is being PCS - polite, considerate and sensible - always using our manners.

We have got a lot of things lined up this term including swimming, cricket and play ball zones. We also have many talented students joining choir and orchestra this year. In term one, we are looking forward to studying all about our Pacific neighbour, Samoa. To celebrate our diverse cultures, we will be holding another Pasifika Showcase at the end of the term. We can't wait!

The Year 6s are also looking forward to their camp at the end of the year, so there will be lots of fundraising to do!

Watch this space for all that Room 26 are up to this year. We hope to make and share many memories of our final year at Primary and post lots of our work and activities. Enjoy the ride!
