Merry Xmas and Safe Holidays!

Merry Christmas everyone from Rm 26 class of 2015.
(Thanks to Anna for constructing our Christmas tree!!)

Congratulations to all Year 6s this year for graduating. Best of luck in 2016 and beyond!

Santa is coming

I can't wait for Christmas
It's finally here
It's exciting to see Santa

With his white locks of hair
Image result for santa clipart
A sparkle in his eye
A big bright red nose
Bells that go jingle

A hearty, HO HO HO!!

He comes down the chimney
With a sack on his back
The candles are lit dimly
The presents are stacked

Gift wrap will be scattered everywhere
But just for one day,
No one will care!

Camp at Carey Park

This year CAMP was so amazing, especially doing all the activities. When we first arrived at CAREY PARK I was really happy and excited, well it didn't look like what I imagined it would look like BUT it did look better than my imagination. The first thing we did was go to our cabins, know all the rules, get settled and eat lunch. After all of that we went BUSH WALKING. Bush walking was very long but I did not expect it to be very long, it was very muddy, slippery, high and native. When it came to campfire night we got split into two groups - group 1 and group 2. Group 2 had the dynamite people and got a good night fright by Mr Robinson and some parent helpers and teachers. My favorite day was FRIDAY because we got to do all the WATER ACTIVITIES which was water games rocky and painful, raft building scary cause a eel was watching us and kayaking getting wet, falling in and getting to rope swing into the water hole. Other activities were archery, air rifles, confidence course, flying fox, outdoor cooking, rock climbing and last of all rope maze. Dinner was real DELICIOUS, lunch was healthy, free time awesome, supper tiring and weather blistering hot. Skit night was full of energy, laughter and family members. Thursday night was red moon also.  But then it came to friday so I had to make the most of it I was tired and sad because I just made a new friend named JOEL and he was really FUN, enthusiastic and was a really KIND man to be around. But OMG I was shocked to hear Joel's laugh it was a crack up. It also WOWED me to see how fast the week had gone but  I have to admit I really did MISS my whole FAMILY. But after all it was worth paying and it was one of the best primary experiences of my life TO BE HONEST. As we were on our trip back to school I was really tired so I fell asleep on the bus  and then woke up to see we were half way on the motorway. And now I am back at school learning and making the most of the rest of this year.

HAPPY DIWALI!

PCS celebrated Diwali on Wednesday 11 November by having our own PCS Diwali dance-off. It was very entertaining and all the performers looked beautiful and brightly coloured in their elaborate traditional costumes. Many of our PCS whanau also got dressed up proudly for the day. We hope everyone who celebrates Diwali enjoy the wonderful festivities during this time.
Happy Diwali!!

Here are Sneha and Trinity from Rm 26 beautifully dressed up for Diwali.
Thank you to all the students who brought in Diwali treats, in particular Sneha and her family for the lovely Diwali sweets brought in for the whole class and teachers (sorry no photo of these as they were all devoured before we could yum yum!! )

PCS Orchestra

This week we had the privilege of sitting in on the orchestra's dress rehearsal for the Tironui Music Concert which will be held at the Vodafone Events Centre next Monday night.
All we can say is Wow!! What a spectacular performance we witnessed from the year 5s and 6s - you are all amazing and we wish you the best of luck next week.
From Rm 26, we would particularly like to special mention Braxton, Heather, Dashik, Irshaad and Nikayla - give it your all and enjoy every minute!

TERM 4

Welcome Back!

Great to have everyone back safely from the school holidays. We're all pumped because it's the final term but also we're looking forward to camp in Week 7! We also can't believe it's the final part of our primary schooling, we will be sad to see it end and part from some of our friends however, also excited for what's up ahead in the future at intermediate. In the meantime, we still have another hardworking term to complete before we can relax and enjoy our graduation at the end of the year.

PCS Talent Show 2015

The PCS Talent Show was another success this year, thanks to all the amazing performers, the Student Council and Mrs Nand! It was a spectacular show and definitely a highlight in 2015. You are all STARS. Lanijane, Raeleigh, Raeolyn and Nathanael were the stars of Rm 26 and we are so very proud of all of you - you all rocked!!

This years Talent Show was a blast! Raeleigh, Raeolyn, Nathaneal and I were very delighted when we all made it in, and we were even more luckier to perform in front of a massive audience. When I called Raeleigh on the phone to discuss what we were going to wear, I came up with a decent idea of wearing sequins on our face. We both thought the idea was Kool with a capital K (Isn't it C).
On the day Raeleigh turned up beautiful, I told her that she sort of looked like Catwoman and she finished that sentence of with a 'Meow.' We walked to the hall, as we entered half of the student councilors were running around trying to sort everything out and soon, I joined in. When the Talent Show started, I started getting butterflies in my stomach, I was sooooo nervous. Amber, Sandeep, Lexie and me were the announcers. I had 5 speeches (only because I was doing 2 performances as well).
Raeleigh and my dance was 16th and my singing was 4th to last, this is where I had something special tucked up my sleeve. Finally our time to shine came, I danced my heart out and I could see Raeleigh was too. I did muddle up one move but eventually I got over it. Our song finished and I ran into the back door to do a quick change. I slipped my other clothes on and rushed back outside just in time to announce one of my speaking parts.
After a couple of performances it was my turn to perform my 2nd act, which was a song. When I sang I caught some people a  bit tearful which made me tear a bit as well. I felt good about both of my performances and I was grateful that I had made it in to both acts.

P.S. Well Done to all the performers this year! =)

Gymnastics Zones 2015

The annual school gymnastics zones was held yesterday (Tuesday 22 September) at Gym City in Papatoetoe. Well done to Raeleigh, our sole class representative from Room 26 who tried her very best and did fantastically well in her individual events. We're very proud of you Raeleigh!

23/09/15
Yesterday was the Papatoetoe primary schools Gymnastics zones and it was held at Papatoetoe Gym City. As we entered the gym I was feeling so so nervous. We did a few minutes of warming up and then we got straight into it. Our first activity was the volt. For me, I especially had butterflies in my tummy because I was up first. Next was our beam and this time I wasn't so nervous. As I was on the beam I was fine and I had nothing to worry about. Finally it was time for our floor and I was also up first and once again I had done everything exactly how I had practiced and had a lot of confidence in me. All our hard work had paid of as I had come 1st in beam, 1st in floor and 2nd in volt out of the year 6 Papatoetoe central girls. A special thank you to our gymnastics coaches Miss Hanson and Miss Fok.

Cross Country Zones 2015

Interschool Cross Country took place at Puhunui Reserve in Manukau today (Tuesday 15 September). Our PCS team have been training hard for the last few weeks but it was a grueling track. Everyone tried their best and had fun. Well done to all the participants especially those who got a placing this year and fantastic coaching and support from Mr Robinson and Mr Singh. Here are the athletes that competed from Room 26: Trinity, Raeleigh, Shrejal, Raeolyn, Alisha and Anna - we are all very proud of you!

We had finally arrived at Puhunui Reserve and I was nervous. The field was massive full of farm animals. While I was running my shoe got stuck in a large mud puddle and it was sinking in the mud but luckily I got it out. The place I got was 45 and I am proud of what I got. Even though I'm not a runner, cross country gave me the courage to become a runner.
Shrejal

Just as we got to Puhunui Reserve I could not stop my teeth chattering as I got outside  but we finally made it at the end. All my hard work made me come 67th. Some downsides were when my shoes got stuck in the mud but I was still proud of myself.
Raeolyn

My first year of Cross Country was a great experience. I was feeling very scared, nervous and at the same time excited. A special thanks to our awesome Cross Country coaches Mr Robinson and Mr Singh for their amazing coaching.

Term 3

We can't believe how fast our year is going but we're in for another good term!

Our term value is Determination and we are all determined to work hard and make the most of our last half year in primary school.

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
— Thomas A. Edison

We're all excited because this term the year 6s will be putting on our final camp fundraiser - Camp Stalls! Room 26 were 2nd to host the event this term and had a whole lot of fun putting it on for the whole school. We thank the whole of PCS for supporting us.

2015 PCS Cross Country

In Week 3 this term, we had the annual gruelling PCS Cross Country. Many students in our class made the school team and have been training hard since - for the inter-school Cross Country Zones held later in the term in Week 9. Good luck to all our competitors!

Enjoy a compilation of photos taken during the muddiest part of the run. 2015 PCS Cross Country on PhotoPeach

Y6 Speech Competition.

The annual speech competition between the Year 5s and 6s took place last week in Week 7. Nathanael from Room 26 did very well in getting into the finals up to this point. Here he is delivering an informative and animated speech on genetic engineering. Although he did not gain a placing in the Senior competition, he did us proud. Congratulations to the finalists Amber (Y6), Ronit (Y6) and Manav (Y5).

Term 2

In Term Two, Week 3 we had our whole class school assembly. Our theme was about being thankful. Lanijane, Raeolyn and Nathaneal sang as soloists singing a "Thank you" Filipino song. It was hard enough to learn the song in another language and to sing it in front of the whole school but we made it through our nervousness.

Our Term 2 Value was Honesty. Honesty is when you tell the truth and act truthfully. Here are 3 quotes on Honesty :

  1. Being Honest never hurts anyone , being a liar only hurts you.
  2. Honesty is an expensive gift , don't expect it from cheap people.
  3. Being honest in your heart feels better than Ice-Cream !!!
Remember being truthful isn't about making other people happy it's about knowing that in the inside you're happy and that you make others happy too!

At the end of term 1 we said farewell to one of our favourite learning assistants, Mrs Hart. We miss her dearly and wish her well in her new role.

When Whaea Paea visited our class for Te Reo we felt so jubilant that we got to test the weather by making kites! Everyone had done such an amazing job to decorate them! Here are some of our excellent art forms.

At the beginning of the term, we had another exciting camp fundraiser with Sports Fun Day! We'd like to say a big thank you to Rm 25 for organising this and to everyone who took part on this amazing day! We know we had a blast!

Half way through the term, we were fortunate to have a lovely student teacher in our class, Mrs Aaliyah. She was kind and friendly and taught us a lot of new things. We enjoyed having her in our class and wish her well in the future with teaching.

Here she is taking us through a few exercises in drama lesson.

In the last week of Term 2, we had PCS' annual Science Wackiest Invention Competition. Many from Room 26 entered and did very well. Watch one of our favourite entries from our very own Vandan. Well done to all entries, you wacky inventors!!
